Built around 1905, this lighthouse is one of the oldest in Cebu. |
Capitancillo is a small coral island located north of Cebu. There is very little to do here except swimming and picture taking. The island is currently inhabited and stores are not present. Should you decide to go here, do not forget to bring lots of water. You can easily get dehydrated on the island because of the extreme heat!
We were required to pay P300 for the docking fee. There were some fishermen/locals on the island during our visit. I am not sure though if this was a legitimate fee.
Kalanggaman Island to Capitancillo:
|
You can barely see the island on the map. |
I suggest you do this journey as a side-trip if you are visiting Kalanggaman Island before going back to Cebu. The trip roughly lasted about 45 to 60 minutes.
We paid our boatmen an additional P2,000 for the trip. We tried to haggle but the price was already fixed. It's quite expensive, however, the trip was worth it.

Ready to dock! |

Just one hut left. The rest were severely damaged by typhoon Yolanda. |

Blue-green ocean water. |

Ruins on the island. |

Getting a Tan in 5 minutes is possible here. The Sun is so hot! |

The 25 meter lighthouse. |

The water is very enticing! |

I could sit here forever and just enjoy the views. |

One last photo. |
After going around the island, we immediately boarded our boat and left the place. We did not swim anymore as the heat was extremely unbearable. We were exhausted!

Capitancillo Island - Simply wonderful. |
The simplicity of the island contributed to its beauty. Just one look is all it takes for you to appreciate and admire this lonely island.
